Details: Nocistatin is generated from the same precursor as the neuropeptide nociceptin (H-3036), an endogenous ligand for the orphan opioid-like receptor. The opposite roles of nociceptin and nocistatin in pain transmission have been described. This compound may lead to the design of analgesics devoid of the addiction and dependence associated with morphine.
